Thanks to modern dental prosthetic technologies, we can completely replace missing teeth, even entire rows of teeth. There are various types of dental prostheses, such as crowns, bridges, or removable dental dentures, which not only improve the functionality of teeth but also the aesthetics of the smile.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are now very well-known and aesthetically effective tooth replacements. Crowns do not replace the entire tooth, but only its visible part, i.e., the part we use to chew food or see when smiling. To use it, it is essential that at least the tooth roots are preserved.

The next step involves grinding the tooth using magnification aids. The prepared tooth is then scanned to create a digital impression. In the dental laboratory, a design of the future ceramic crown is created using computer-controlled technology and then milled. Eating with a denture can initially be a challenge. You need to get used to not only the new feeling in your mouth but also to the fact that eating with artificial teeth will be a bit different. Start with small bites and prepare mainly softer foods. Avoid very hard foods. Initially, dishes like eggs, cooked vegetables, or fish are suitable.
Try using both sides when chewing. If you chew only with the front teeth or use only one side of the denture, it could move. If you are patient and take it slowly and gradually, you can soon move on to harder foods.

Apply healing gels or solutions to sore gums. Suitable alternatives include soothing gels designed for children when teething. They contain ingredients that soothe the gums, relieve pain, and speed up healing. If you prefer natural ingredients, you can also try rinsing with chamomile, sage, agrimony, or mint. Cloves, which can be used to make a tincture, also have significant anti-inflammatory and disinfectant effects.
If you have a new dental prosthesis and the soreness does not improve, you cannot get used to the prosthesis, and its wearing is painful, contact your dentist. It is possible that the dental prosthesis does not fit completely, and it will need to be adjusted.

You should always remove the prosthesis at night. One reason is its thorough cleaning, as food residues and dental plaque stick to both teeth and the prosthesis during the day. Equally important, you should give your gums and mucous membranes a rest. After cleaning the prosthesis, place it in a special container for storing teeth, or in a glass of water. In the morning, rinse the dental prosthesis under running water before inserting it. Always insert a clean prosthesis into a clean mouth.

Dental veneers are an ideal choice for those who have damaged, broken, irregular, or heavily discolored teeth. They can also be suitable for people with diastema, or gaps between teeth, that cannot be eliminated in any other way.
On the other hand, there are certain contraindications where dental veneers are not a suitable choice. For example, patients with active periodontitis, tooth decay, or inflammation should first address these issues before considering veneers. They are also not suitable for people with bruxism, or excessive grinding and clenching of teeth, as this can lead to the breaking or damaging of veneers. However, dental veneers undoubtedly offer many advantages. In addition to improving the aesthetic appearance of teeth, they provide a long-lasting effect. They are also color and shape customized to the individual needs of the patient, so the resulting effect is very natural.
Applying dental veneers is an irreversible process, as the tooth must be ground first. This can be a disadvantage for someone looking for a less invasive solution. Moreover, the patient must also be aware that although dental veneers are highly durable, they are not indestructible.
