When is the ideal time for the first visit to the dentist? As soon as the first baby tooth appears! This early visit is important for both parents and the child.

  • Parents receive useful advice on caring for baby teeth.
  • The child gradually gets used to visiting us and having their teeth checked.
In the beginning:
  • We only check the teeth and teach how to care for them.
  • We do not drill teeth at the first appointments – this helps build trust and prevent fear of the dentist.

Baby teeth are important for several reasons:

  • They hold space for permanent teeth and fall out at the right time to allow permanent teeth to replace them.
  • Premature loss can cause problems with the eruption of permanent teeth, which may require orthodontic treatment.
Baby tooth infection: An untreated cavity can cause root infection, which can damage the permanent tooth. Prevention is key!

Baby Teeth

Baby molars can remain in the mouth until 12 years of age. If a cavity in a five-year-old child’s tooth is not treated, the permanent successor can be damaged. Inappropriate solution: Drilling the tooth and leaving it open is not a good idea.

Consequences:
  • The tooth will eventually start to hurt.
  • Acute treatment can be traumatic for the child and financially burdensome for the parent.

Zuby The best results are achieved with children who visit the dentist regularly from an early age.
Preventive check-ups:

1. During check-ups, we "count the teeth," the child gets used to the environment, and receives a reward.

2. When a cavity actually occurs, the child already trusts the dentist, and they can plan the next steps together.

X-ray: Cavities in children are best detected with an X-ray, which should ideally be done around the age of 4.
On the X-ray, the dentist will clearly show the parents and the child where the cavities are and how to treat them.

The best start: Ideally, begin with dental hygiene, where the child gets used to work in their mouth and learns the basic habits needed to keep their mouth healthy.

Treatment: It’s best to start with one small and simple cavity. During subsequent visits, we can treat multiple cavities, depending on the child’s cooperation.

More complex treatments require more time, but if the child is well-prepared, they will confidently handle even the more challenging procedures.

We start treating complex cavities when the child is ready. If not, treatment is done under general anesthesia.

If the child cooperates, we explain everything in a playful manner. The injection is "magic water to make the tooth sleep". The rubber dam is a "raincoat". We try not to use words like pain or fear and aim to find an individual approach for each child.

Tooth Decay Treatment

Kaz 5-ročného dievčaťa

Cavity of a 5-year-old girl on the proximal surfaces of teeth 75/74 and the cervical part of tooth 75. During the treatment, the teeth were anesthetized, a rubber dam (we call it a raincoat) was applied, and it is clearly visible how demineralized the dentin is.

Po vyčistení zuba od kazu

After cleaning the tooth from decay, we reached the pulp of the tooth on both teeth. The teeth need nerve amputation (this is the removal of part of the dental nerve) to last until the teeth are replaced.

Použitý materiál s biokeramikou

Used material with bioceramics, which allows for a quick and clean working field. Bioceramics provide excellent protection and support natural healing of the teeth.

Tak zuby vyzerajú po ošetrení

This is how the teeth look after treatment. The result shows how effectively and precisely the treatment was carried out. The patient is very satisfied with the result, and her teeth are now healthy and functional.
