General anesthesia is a loss of consciousness, elimination of pain perception, stabilization of autonomic nervous system functions, and muscle relaxation. In dentistry, it is a very important tool if a child or adult has an uncontrollable fear of treatment. It makes the procedure more pleasant, painless, and much shorter.
Before treatment under general anesthesia, it is necessary to undergo an internal preoperative examination, but not earlier than 10 days before the procedure itself. This ensures that the results are current at the time of the procedure.
The course of general anesthesia is discussed in advance with an experienced anesthesiologist and the doctor who will perform the procedure. During the consultation, all the details of the procedure are explained, including familiarization with the patient's health condition.
You must not eat for 6 hours and drink for 3 hours before the procedure. The procedure itself takes place at our clinic with an experienced anesthesiologist present. After the procedure, you stay at the clinic for at least 2 hours for observation and recovery. When leaving the clinic, you must be accompanied by an adult.
1.On the X-ray, the doctor will show the parents and the child where the cavities are located, their extent, and they will set a treatment plan. Ideally, the child should start with dental hygiene. During this, they get used to work in their mouth, and we are sure that nothing will really hurt them. They will try different positions in the chair, learn to keep their mouth open and rinse. The doctor or hygienist also teaches the child and especially their parent how to properly care for their teeth, which is the absolute basis for successful treatment.
2.Examination by a pediatrician.
3.With confirmation from the pediatrician, you come for the treatment appointment.
During the entire course of general anesthesia, vital functions are strictly monitored. The procedure is performed with an experienced anesthesiologist with many years of practice. Waking up from general anesthesia can be associated with confusion and general physical discomfort. Side effects such as nausea, dry mouth, or drowsiness may occur. For this reason, you must stay at the clinic until you are fully recovered, but at least for 2 hours.
